Insulin Resistance

Why You’re Not Losing Weight?

Could Insulin Resistance be one of the main reasons you keep putting on weight or can’t lose weight? ? ?

Most people put weight gain or not being able to lose weight down to age or it’s just me that’s the problem… that’s by far not the case…

Making sure your pancreas is working properly is important but so is your body’s ability to absorb the sugars you are eating into your muscles otherwise you store the sugars (carbohydrates) as fat… ?

So your body might be good at releasing insulin but bad at excepting the insulin to open up your cells in your muscles and not putting the Carbs into the muscle but into fat stores, leaving you feeling hungry and wanting more carbs… a viscous circle to major weight gain even when you’re not eating that much in the way of carbs… ?

The best way to start to reverse this is make sure your nutrient timings are correct plus nutrient combinations are correct especially around your workouts plus on days you are not working out…

Nutrient timings: when you should be eating.

Nutrient combinations: what foods you should be eating together and when.

Without going to much into the science of how it all works, working out is super important especially to raise your cortisol levels, your body needs to lower cortisol (stress hormone) after working out and one of the best ways your body knows how to lower cortisol is with carbohydrates so pushing your body’s pancreas to release insulin and absorb the carbs into your muscles you are eating rather than into fat stores…

This can be done very effectively when you get everything right or very wrong if you get the wrong timings plus wrong combinations… ?

This also opens a bigger picture as to if you stress allot, you will be someone who grabs at carbs to lower cortisol but if your body can’t absorb the carbs you will just keep grabbing at them as the body never gets satisfied thus leading to weight gain…

Another thing is that when your body releases insulin you also get an endorphin release (happy hormone) and everyone likes to feel happy ? so you keep grabbing at carbs especially when you are stressed thus comfort eating but piling on the lbs as your body never gets satisfied due to being insulin deficiency so the viscous circle continues along with weight gain until you break it the correct way…

Unfortunately the really bad news is you don’t even need to be insulin deficient to get this wrong… you can rack on the weight if you get your nutrient timings and combinations wrong, when the body releases insulin it is extremely good at storing foods as fat that it doesn’t need or want at that point… especially around workouts and at high levels of stress…

Any of this sound familiar?… ?

This might all sound a bit confusing but this is one of the many problems we take away when getting results for our clients by making sure all of the above are covered with their nutrition and training in the most simplest of ways…
